In 1987 I founded River Road Nursery, a commercial greenhouse operation which grew bedding color and herbs for the majority of local retail nurseries, resorts, and lodges. My design background began with designing the entryways and patio areas for these large resorts and supplying them the plant materials. In 1995 I created a retail outlet on site and began to offer more complete design services for residences as well as on site consultations. This included designing and planting containers and planting beds as well as outdoor furnishings . During the time I was managing River Road Nursery, I also was working consistently with the Tucson Home and Gardens Magazine as a professional “stager” for a variety of articles featuring home gardens. During the 1990’s, I was also active with the Tucson Botanical Gardens and participated in many fundraising events as a designer for the annual “Luminario Nights” as well as the “Herb Fair”. In 2002, the property which River Road Nursery was located, sold, and I was unable to find another site which could sustain a growing operation and a retail outlet. It was at this time I decided to further my skills and enroll in a private institute to earn an Associates Degree in Landscape Design. In 2007 I completed all required courses and was awarded that degree. I immediately founded River Road Designs and have been working continually on both new construction and rehabilitating projects.
